I wanted to take a moment to update you on plans being implemented by our district teachers and administrators during the quarantine of our school. Today our staff came into the school to make plans to provide educational services to our students during these two weeks, and perhaps longer. Students who have left items in the building, and who need to pick up their instruments will have the opportunity to come into the building starting tomorrow from 10:00-12:00 Noon, and from 1:00-3:00 PM. Josh Barney, our tech coordinator, will also be available during this time for technology assistance. Guidance services will also be available while students are out, both via technology as well as face to face while we still are able to promote those options. School Lunch will be available on Thursday and will be delivered to our students as well as available for pickup, weather of course permitting.
Parents, teachers are also reaching out to you via various methods, both by packet as well as online. Many of the elementary staff are starting class Facebook pages to help you in implementing curriculum, and will be available to answer questions that you may have. Teachers in middle and high school are reaching out to your students online or via the remind app. Parents please tell your students to check their laptops or other electronic devices for updates from their teachers.
Finally, parents, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your teachers during this time. They are here for you. In order for us to be successful as a school district, we need to place you as parents in positions to be successful with your students. Please note that classes differ, and rigidity of curricula differs from grade to grade. Please be appropriate in your feedback to our staff. Our teachers need your help. No one took quarantine education class in college, this is totally new to them, and they are trying to meet the needs of our students, while also being well aware that you as parents are being stressed, and many of our middle and high school kids will be taking on the role of primary caregivers during this time. We will be providing updates on our school webpage, via our all call system, as well as on our Facebook page. I will provide daily video updates of our services, as well as what we are learning locally, statewide, and nationwide.
Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding, I’m sure that I missed many things in our message, but we are doing our best to provide you things that you need. Note that this too shall pass, but in the meantime, our team here at the school are united in helping our students, staff, and community during this time. Thanks everyone, stay safe and healthy.
