📚⚓ Wausa Elementary Sets Sail with Reading! ⚓📚

Our elementary students crushed their Read Across America Week goal by reading over 12,000 minutes! We are so proud of the dedication our students showed all week long.

A special shoutout to our Preschool readers, who had a goal of 1,200 minutes and soared past it by reading over 1,400 minutes! Way to go, little Vikings! 👏

Because our students met their goal, we are now boarding the Viking Voyager and setting sail around the world through reading! As students continue to read, we’ll track how far our Viking ship can travel on our journey across the globe. 🌎📖

Today was also Reading Buddies Day, and it was incredible to see our older students model reading to our younger students. The leadership, encouragement, and excitement for books filled the room! Moments like these show that our students aren’t just readers—they’re reading leaders. ❤️

📚✨ Read Across America Week is underway at Wausa Elementary! ✨📚

On Monday, our teachers kicked off the week by sharing one of their favorite books with their classes and introducing each class’s reading goal for the week. Students even received a copy of their teacher’s favorite book to create a special reading memory and help foster a lifelong love of reading. ❤️📖

THANK YOU to the Parent Council for donating a portion of these books and to the parents and community members who support us through our Scholastic Book Fair.

Here are the books our students are enjoying this week:

📗 6th Grade – Mrs. Schindler: A Wrinkle in Time (Not Picture - yet!)

There’s nothing better than watching students connect with books their teachers loved growing up. ❤️

It’s Read Across America Week, and our PK4–5th grade students wrapped up the day with a schoolwide Blooket challenge centered around some of our favorite books! The room was full of energy as students accepted challenges, tested their knowledge, and earned prizes.

A huge shoutout to our 4th and 5th graders for stepping up and helping our PK4 and Kindergarten students read the questions. That’s what being a reading leader is all about! 👏 A preschooler said it best, because of you fifth grade "that was one of the best days ever!"

Mrs. Heimes is SO proud of our students! You’re not just reading leaders… you’re reading legends! 🏆📖

Mrs. Miller has a super fun day planned filled with learning, laughter, and all things THIRD GRADE! 📚✨

Congrats to the Wausa Boys Basketball Team on qualifying for a District Final! They will play at Elm Creek High School on Monday, March 2nd at 6pm.
We will have a 1pm early dismissal on Monday (No afternoon PK) and a 10am late start on Tuesday (no morning PK/breakfast). #GBV
