📚✨ It’s Read Across America Week! 🎉 From March 3-7, our staff is sharing their all-time favorite books! First up: Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, chosen by Mrs. Katie Smith! 📖 "I liked it because it had a lot of neat, different poems that were engaging and entertaining for me at that age—which I think can be hard for kids to enjoy. The poems felt like stories, and the drawings were neat too!" Mrs. Moes' favorites: 📚 Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. "I love that this book can get kids excited about letters! I read this book to my kindergarten classes every year, and students just loved it!" 🐛 The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle "This was my absolute favorite book as a young child. I checked it out from the library so often that they had to order a second copy for other people!" 🌈 The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister "I love the message of this story! Friendships, being kind to others, and sharing happiness among your family and friends is what matters most!" And last but not least for this edition of Staff Picks… 🔥 The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, chosen by Mr. Kirk Hamm. "Good storyline. Dealt with life as a teenager and growing up." Stay tuned for more staff favorites! What’s a book that left a lasting impact on you? 📚👇 #ReadAcrossAmerica #StaffFavorites #WhereTheSidewalkEnds

Good evening, Wausa Public School families. We want to address the recent news regarding the cyber intrusion into PowerSchool accounts across several districts, including ours. We understand your concerns and want to provide you with the most accurate and reassuring information possible. Recently, a cyberattack targeted PowerSchool, the student information system used by almost every public school in the state of Nebraska. This breach may have involved access to some student and staff records. According to their investigation, names and addresses of students and staff may have been accessed. However, we want to emphasize that Wausa Public School current policy does not include Social Security numbers or other sensitive financial information in our PowerSchool records. Our Response: 1. We are working closely with PowerSchool and cybersecurity professionals to secure our systems. 2. Powerschool is currently sending out emails to individuals affected (which they are legally obligated to do) allowing you two full years of free cyber protection. This is totally up to you, however, we as a district would highly recommend using any free resources to protect you and your family. What You Can Do: • Monitor any communication or mail for unusual activity. • Feel free to contact our office with any concerns or questions. We take the security of our students' and staff members' information very seriously. Thank you for your understanding and trust as we navigate this situation. We are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. Thank you, and please reach out if you need additional support or information. If you did not receive an email, please disregard this message.
